If this has happened to you on an ancestor having anything to do with Farmington, then this is the place to hopefully get some answers. I have started a project on Farmington, Connecticut based on probate records from 1700-1729. My interest is to focus on the place and time period as well as four families, Pixley, Clark, Gridley, and Woodruff, all related in some way by marriage.

I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions you might have. I am interested in maps of that time if available. I'd be happy to share my results with your group. My primary interest relates to the Pixley family, ancestors of a son-in-law.

Thanks for any help.

Principal search now: George Langdon's parents and birthplace. I have several places and years - Devon, Cornwall, England. Have info he came to America about 1636, but no ship lists I've found name him. First wife's name uncertain. Info I have says he was in Wethersfield, Ct, but he's not listed in the records I consulted. Know that he lived in Northampton Mass. in 1654, but his son John lived in Farmington, Ct. at that time. Descendant Noah Langdon, born in Farmington, moved to Tyringham Mass.

Looking for connections to CT and Skinner and Scott families that were here before migrating to NY State. Elias Scott family was originally from Farmington, Hartford Co., CT. If there is any information on this family please e-mail me.

I am searching for more information on the family of ELISHA SCOTT and his wife MERCY NORTH. One of their sons was ERASTUS SCOTT b. 1787 Nov. 6 in Farmington, Hartford, CT. I am trying to connect this family to JOHN SCOTT who was born in 1784 in CT and married JANE ..?... b. 1788 in Genesee, NY. JOHN could possibly be a brother to ERASTUS. My opinion is supported by the fact that JOHN and NANCY SCOTT had three sons: HORACE, ERASTUS and ELIAS. If anyone can help me with this family, please e-mail me.

I have been looking for a long time to find the link beyond my ggg-grandfather. His name was HENRY E. TUCKER born about 1813 most likely in VT but possibly CT. He married an Emeline Potter 29 NOV 1836 in Farmington CT and they had several children including:
Chauncey, Edgar H., Mary Elizabeth, Elisha, Cornelia, Philomen. They lived in Avon CT for several years before moving to Candor NY sometime between 1840 and 1843. He moved to Potter County PA about 1850 where he stayed until his death. I have been unable to find out anything else about Henry. Does anyone see a link to their family tree?

Thanks for your time, Ed Tucker

COGSWELL and WHITMAN families

I'm seeking information on ASAHEL COGSWELL son of Samuel and Mary (Langdon) Cogswell b: 1741 Farmington, CT - He is possibly the same Asahel listed as an orig grantee of land in Tinmouth, Rutland, VT. There is also a Samuel Whitman listed and the history of Tinmout is that many of the grantees came from CT. Also John Whitman served as a private in the NH troops and Continental line from CT and is listed on the 1890 SAR application of his gg-grandson John James Whitman of MI.
